Lok Sabha Election Result 2019 LIVE Updates: Lok Sabha Election Results 2019.The Loc Sabha Elections are being conducted in 7 phases from 11th April 2019 to 19th May 2019. Apart from these 29 states, the Loc Sabha elections had earlier concluded in India. While the results of the Loc Sabha elections will be declared on 23rd May 2019. With VVPAT counting to be introduced in this Lok Sabha election, the results on 23 May are likely to get delayed by five to six hours, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh has said.

He said after the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) counting is over, the voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPATs) will be counted as per the Supreme Court guidelines. Speaking about the Assembly constituencies of Delhi, Singh said, "From every Assembly constituency, five (VVPATs) will be randomly selected and they will be counted. There is a special VVPAT booth in every counting hall. It will take place in five rounds."

Delhi has 70 assembly constituencies and in all 350 VVPATs will be counted.
"Every assembly segment had 200 polling stations and five polling stations will be selected randomly. This will delay the formal results. But trends will be out early. Formal declaration of results will be delayed by five to six hours," Singh told PTI.

He also briefed Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev about the expected delay in results, officials said.

Delhi Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik was present during the briefing and he apprised them about the security arrangements that will be made in accordance with the Election Commission guidelines. Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies and there is one counting centre in each of them. The counting centres will have one counting hall for each of the 10 assembly segments, officials said.

In each counting hall, a maximum of 14 tables can be put and machines that would come in the first round, their results will be compiled and uploaded on the 'Suvidha' app of the Election Commission. The counting will commence at 8 am with postal ballots. Officials will have to ensure that the postal ballot counting is over with at least two rounds of EVM counting yet to be done.

After the EVM counting is over, the VVPAT counting will commence.

The Supreme Court has made it clear that random matching of VVPAT slips with EVMs will take place in five polling booths per assembly segment. Accordingly, the exercise will be held in 20,600 of the 10.35 lakh polling stations across the country.

Nearly 39.6 lakh EVMs and 17.4 lakh voter-verifiable paper trail machines (VVPAT) are being used in these polling stations. These include reserves.

  • With over 900 million voters eligible to vote for 543 constituencies, the 17th Lok Sabha Elections, that is being held in 7 phases has finally reached its 7th and final phase. The 7th phase of elections will take place on May 19th, 2019 when 8 states including Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Chandigarh will undergo polling.
  • In the first phase of the general election, 69.50% of the 142 million eligible voters cast their vote to elect their representatives for 91 Lok Sabha seats. The turnout was 68.77% in the same constituencies in the 2014 general elections.
  • In the second of the seven voting phases 156 million voters were eligible to vote to elect their representatives for 95 Lok Sabha seats. The turnout for the second phase was 69.44% in 2019, compared to 69.62% for the same seats in 2014. 
  • In the third phase of the general election, 189 million voters were eligible to elect 116 Lok Sabha representatives. According to the Election Commission of India, the turnout for this phase was 68.40%, compared to 67.15% for the same seats in 2014.
  • In the fourth of seven phases, 65.51% of the 128 million eligible voters cast their vote to elect 72 representatives to the Indian parliament while the turnout for the same seats in the 2014 election was 63.05%.
  • The fifth phase was open to 87.5 million eligible voters, who could cast their vote in over 96,000 polling booths. In the sixth of seven phases, 63.5% of the 101 million eligible voters cast their vote in about 113,000 polling stations. 
  • In the sixth phase with over 100 million voters across 7 states who were eligible to vote for 59 seats of Lok Sabha, 63.49% voter turnout was recorded.

The number is an increase of about 9 crore compared to last time. It is estimated that about 13 crore voters this time will be first-time voters. The actual number of people who do vote, however, is far less. Even though 2014 saw the highest turnout ever in independent India's history at 66.4 per cent, it meant a huge 27.3 crore people did not vote.

Holding elections in India, world's seventh largest nation by area and second most populous country is a complex process. The model code of conduct has already been put in place for this year's election where nearly 2,000 parties and over 8,000 candidates will be contesting elections for 543 seats. The model code of conduct is a set of guidelines that candidates, and political parties and governments must follow to keep elections fair.

Two-thirds of Indians are under 35. With 43 crore Indians owning a smartphone, half a billion using the Internet, 30 crore using Facebook, 20 crore sending messages on WhatsApp and 3 crore users on Twitter, political parties and candidates will aggressively use new technology and social media to win the hearts and minds of young voters.

Millions of poll workers, police and security personnel are deployed in cities, towns, villages and hamlets. They use planes, boats, trains, helicopters, elephants and camels and travel by foot to reach far flung voters, because every vote counts. Elections in India are nothing less than a "festival of democracy."

Electronic voting machines
As in recent elections, the 2019 voting has relied on EVM – electronic voting machines. The Election Commission of India deployed a voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) system which enables electronic voting machines to record each vote cast by generating the EVM slip. Tried in previous elections on a sample basis, VVPAT system is being used in all 543 Lok sabha constituencies for the 2019 election

Lok Sabha Election Dates:
Voting will be held across India on 11 April , 18 April, 23 April, 29 April, 6 May, 12 May and 19 May.

Lok Sabha Election Polling Stations:
More than 10 lakh polling stations would be set up to conduct the Lok Sabha election 2019, which is a latest world record. Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) will be used in all polling stations. 11 lakh electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in Lok Sabha Election 2019.

Lok Sabha Election 2019 First Time Voters:
Lok Sabha Election 2019 will see over 13 crore first-time voters. These voters in the age group of 18-19 years constitute.

Transgender persons enrol in the electoral rolls as "Others" on the gender category. This time, the number of electors enrolled as "others" gender is 38,325.
